ABOUT FSL

Francis Supported Living Ltd. provides a supported living service for young people aged between 16/17 years old, Solo & Care leavers and individuals who have been diagnosed with special needs such as Autism, learning difficulties or learning disabilities and are looked after by the Local Authority.  They may also be preparing to move on and live independently and are able to manage their personal care.

We offer a sensitive environment that enables the young person to address issues specific to their needs. Our goal is to help them live as good citizens in the community.  Francis Supported Living Ltd. is open to all young people regardless of their religious, cultural, sexuality and ethnic backgrounds including young people from the “Unaccompanied Minors” and those of “Refugee” status.

The proprietors of these services have over 15 years of fostering children and young people with complex needs. They understand the challenges of those who are or have been a part of the care system.

Our purpose is support young people based on their own needs. We also collaborate with other organisations, keeping the young person’s well being at the centre of our objectives.  We offer a holistic approach to young person care in an effort to redress the imbalance that some young people face in the care system due to discrimination, disability, racism and negative stereotyping of sexuality, which is unfortunately a reality for many young people looked after today.

Family Time

We work with young people that are working towards independence; some may have behavioural and emotional difficulties.  Francis Supported Living Ltd. offers a culturally sensitive environment that enables the young person to re-address issues pertinent to their specific needs as reflected in their individual Care Plans / Placement Plans.

We work in collaboration with Social Workers, families, education and health workers to assist the young people placed in our care to reach their full potential.  We build on young people's self-esteem through positive reinforcement and encouragement. Our young people are helped to develop their social skills through the group living experience as well as involvement in community activities. We encourage them to feel part of the group and at the same time they are able to own and build on their experiences.

Francis Supported Living Ltd. also offers semi-independent training and work with those young people who may be facing cultural and identity issues.  This is achieved through group and individual discussions, sharing experiences, helping the young people to respect others and accepting the responsibilities for their actions and providing therapeutic supported as required.

The young people stay at Francis Supported Living Ltd. until they are ready to live independently and care for themselves appropriately. Francis Support Living Ltd. is based in a family style house situated close to bus and local train routes, education, local shops and a local shopping centre is only a few minutes away.

The house is decorated, well equipped and the resources are continually reviewed and expanded to maintain a high standard. Each young person's room is thoughtfully decorated and furnished, and this includes a wardrobe, chest of draws and single bed and a chair.

We hope that all young people that come to live within our service and share their home with other young people and staff find it a positive, safe and rewarding period in their lives.
